Students to compete on ideas and innovation in NTRC competition

Preliminary judging in the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission’s Idea and Innovation competition started earlier this week at the National Insurance Services main conference room on Upper Bay Street.{{more}}

The five schools in Zone A were Tuesday scheduled to put forward ideas that they believe can create new systems or improve existing ones, in the current departments within the public service and other state agencies of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The students will be challenged to develop and present projects in the form of ideas and mobile applications, and would be expected to make presentations describing their ideas.

Zone A is made up of the St Vincent Girls High School, the St Vincent Grammar School, Thomas Saunders Secondary School, Intermediate High School and the North Union Secondary School.

Zone B (Bequia) features the students of the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School who were to display their ideas at the school on Wednesday, while Zone B (Leeward) was expected to feature innovations from the students of the Petit Bordel Secondary, Barrouallie Secondary, and the St Martin’s Secondary yesterday at the Barrouallie Learning Resource Centre.

The Union Island Secondary School is expected to face the judges at the school today..

The competition, known as the “I2 Competition” is organized by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED), and SEARCHLIGHT Newspaper.
