The Mustique Company Ltd has made a payment of approximately EC$10.7 million to the Government, to assist with this countryâs relief efforts.{{more}}
At a ceremony at Cabinet Room yesterday, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves revealed that he requested US$4 million from the Mustique Company to aid with relief efforts in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
âThat was not so much a donation, as a request that I made to the Mustique Company for payments over the next several years, up to certain monies, on all the monies which we make out of the Mustique Company,â Gonsalves said.
He explained that under this agreement, approximately EC$10.7, which is the equivalent of US$4 million, will be paid to the Government in advance.
The Prime Minister commended the company on the work that it has been doing, through the Mustique Charitable Trust, to help persons in need.
The cheque from the Mustique Company, which was presented to Gonsalves yesterday, was the first of two.
The National Lotteries Authority also donated EC$100,000 towards relief efforts.
âWe are building it bit by bit and they are coming in and we are counting them by their numbers,â Gonsalves said.(BK)
