So says Acting Commissioner of Police Michael Charles.

In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday, the Commissioner said the local Coastguard searched 13 miles west of Buccament to Chateaubelair and back.

Charles said searches were conducted on December 24, 25, 26 and 27.

“Nothing was discovered, so we are suspending the search until something comes up,” Charles said.

Charles said while it is being said that members of the police force were out in their numbers to help flood victims and to search for those who were missing, he said that is the normal function of the constabulary.

“This is what we do. We are happy do it and if we could bring some closure to these families, then all the better,” stated Charles.

The Christmas Eve floods claimed the lives of nine persons and left 27-year-old Josell Small of Lowmans Hill, Shiela Edwards, 36, of Buccament, and Inka Jack, 12, also of Buccament, missing.(KW)
