The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment in a release said that in the absence of water from the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA), the following options and restrictions are to be noted and embraced:

o Water from rivers is not to be used for human consumption, including bathing.

o Harvested rainwater from clean roofing materials should be strained and sanitized by either boiling or via the use of sanitizing solutions or tablets

o Packaged bottled water is strongly advised, especially for drinking purposes

o Private and public institutions and establishments are encouraged not to open for business unless there is a reliable supply of clean and safe water for human activities.

“As the nation awaits the full return of the potable water supply in some areas of the mainland, it is important that safe water practices be employed by all citizens. This will undoubtedly not only prevent the outbreak of water related diseases but also ensure national water safety and security,” the release from Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment Luis deShong said.
