On Monday, at the terminal building, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves will receive the certificate of substantial completion of the building from Ambassador Weber Shih of the Republic of China.

Construction work on the terminal building began in June 2011, with the Overseas Engineering Construction Company of Taiwan being the main contractors.

With the handover, the retrofitting of the building is scheduled to commence, and should be completed by July next year.

Officials at the International Airport Development Corporation earlier this month estimated that the airport runway should also be completed by mid 2014, with the airport up and running shortly after.(JJ)
