Police confirmed that the female employee had been robbed of a deposit bag with an undisclosed sum of money, not too far from her place of employment.

The woman is said to have been relieved of the deposit bag by a masked man at about 11:30 a.m., in the crowded area of Middle Street.

When SEARCHLIGHT visited the store, an employee, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the worker had to be taken to the hospital after the incident.

The employee also confirmed that the woman was making her way to the bank when the incident took place.

Police are continuing investigations into the matter.

The robbery was executed in similar fashion to that in which a female postal worker was relieved of $100,000 in Kingstown, while making her way from the bank, on June 13, 2013, at around midday. The money taken in that robbery was also contained in a deposit bag.

Up to press time, no arrests had been made in that matter.
