Station Sergeant Trevor Bailey of the Crime Prevention Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) made the announcement last Friday during the staging of the Police Force’s Crime Prevention Exhibition.

According to Sergeant Bailey, many people fall victim to the game known as three card, because there are people who lure others into the game.

“Because the truth is, only the players win,” he said.

The Station Sergeant said members of the public tend to withhold information. He explained that to an onlooker, it appears as if someone is winning, but that individual is part of the team.

“So, you will fall prey and think that they will allow you to win,” he explained.

“So, we are appealing strongly to the public not to fall victim.”

Bailey said that the police know that these scam artists often operate in the Middle Street area in Kingstown and according to him, the police will be focusing their attention and running them off the streets to allow people to go about their legitimate business.

“This is money that we worked hard for and we want to enjoy our money,” Bailey said. (DD)
