Mothers’ Union ‘16 Days of Activism’ campaign takes on gender violence

The Mothers’ Union in the Province of the West Indies has just completed 16 days of activism, as part of a global campaign to build awareness about gender based violence.{{more}}

The sixteen-day campaign began on November 25 and ended on Sunday, December 1. The campaign followed a meeting of the Mothers’ Union in the Province of the West Indies, which took place in Tobago from October 8 to 14.

During that meeting, extensive discussions on the crime situation existing in the Caribbean were held.

The following statement was issued after the meeting: “The Mothers’ Union promotes and supports stable marriage and family life. The Mothers Union in the Province of the West Indies condemns the escalating cases of crime and violence adversely affecting families in the Caribbean. We are committed to taking action through Mothers’ Union ‘16 Days of Activism’ campaign against gender violence. Crime and violence is an injustice. It must be removed from society.”
