Can Fest – Building a better Vincy Land
Ever since it was introduced seven years ago, Can Fest has been one of the most highly anticipated charity events to be hosted during the month of December.{{more}}
For this yearâs event, organizers are promising another great entertainment package for patrons.
The event, to be held on December 13, will be held under the theme “Each one, Help one, Build a better Vincy land.â
International reggae star Richie Spice will headline this yearâs event along with a number of local acts, to be announced at a later date.
Speaking at the official launch for the event on Tuesday at the UWI Open Campus conference room, CARICOM Youth Ambassador Kishore Shallow described the event as a great initiative, led by young individuals.
“Obviously, there are youths involved and heading this organization for Can Fest. So, I saw the need to advocate
and support these young colleagues of mine.
“As CARICOM Youth ambassador for St Vincent, I am in full support of this project which has been ongoing for a number of years and has been quite successful, and based on my understanding and involvement in the planning, so far 2013 promises to be another great year for Can Fest,â the Youth ambassador stated.
David Brown, event coordinator, stated that the Can Fest brand has evolved over the past few years and will continue to do so in the future. The organising body has therefore also evolved into an event management company. As a result, this year, Can Fest is being organized under a new brand: “Main Eventsâ.
In addition, as Can Fest continues on its mission to bring the Christmas spirit to the less fortunate, they have procured the services of new Marketing & PR consultancy, Ignite! to assist in taking Can Fest to the next level.
Founder and Marketing/PR consultant at Ignite! Candice Sealey revealed that since Can Festâs inception, over 200,000 cans of food have been distributed to the less fortunate.
She further noted that this year, the cans of food will be distributed to the St Benedictâs Nursery, the Salvation Army, The House of Hope and the Red Cross, among other organizations.
Patrons can gain entrance to Can Fest 2013 with three cans of food.
It was, however, disclosed that tickets can only be obtained at 1st Choice Enterprises No.1, located at Middle Street and No.2, close to Heritage Square.
In the spirit of giving, Can Fest will also be rewarding persons who have tickets for the event. Each person that receives a ticket gains automatic entry into a draw to win various prizes, including a 32 inch Flat screen TV. There will also be many giveaways and surprises via social and other media.
