The workshop, spearheaded by the Generation Next North Leeward youth organisation, saw participants engaged in a lecture and practical session, which focussed on job search techniques and curriculum vitae writing. The workshop formed part of a series of projects designed to teach job seekers and school leavers how to obtain and sustain employment.
Delivering brief remarks at the opening of the one-day workshop, attorney Carlos James urged the participants to take a more proactive approach when dealing with matters relating to the youth.
âAs young people, you have to start empowering yourselves and learn to work collectively towards improving the level of youth participation in the decision making process at a community and national level,â James emphasised.
James encouraged the participants to take advantage of the opportunities that are now at their disposal.
âI implore you to take advantage of the opportunities available to you and apply them to contemporary issues facing the youth,â he noted.
The participants also heard remarks from former president of Cave Hill Vinsa Bishon Williams and teacher Rayon Murray.
The workshop was conducted by Adriana King.
