Music teachers recognized

Jennifer Glasgow Browne and Joffre Venner have been named as the recipients of the Vincentian Association of Artists, Writers and Producers Inc National Recognition Award in Music for 2013.{{more}}

The original pronouncement was made at the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Association, which was held at the University of the West Indies Open Campus on October 12.

The Association was given the opportunity Wednesday afternoon to make the formal presentation at the Annual Presentation of Music Certificates by the St Vincent Music Association and the St Vincent and the Grenadines ABSRM, held under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne and Lady Ballantyne at Government House.

Glasgow-Browne was awarded for her contribution in judging competitions, including music festivals, calypso, Soca and Ragga Soca competitions and promotion of choirs and choisters; and Venner for his sterling contribution to the expansion of the use of classical music instruments in schools across the State.

Both awardees are music teachers and members of the St Vincent Music Association.
