Westwood Methodist celebrates Independence
For the second year in a row, the Westwood Methodist School celebrated independence in grand style. The staff and students held their celebrations on Wednesday which included an exhibition of domestic artifacts, performances and a national history quiz, which was won by Anthony House, the other house Wyllie House placed second, of course.{{more}}
The domestic artifacts on display included a goose and flat irons with coal pot, a vintage hand sewing machine as well as vintage analogue cameras.
Spokesperson Jonetta Ellis told SEARCHLIGHT that this year’s event was smaller in terms of the items on exhibition but the spirits were higher this year. Ellis said that the students will learn by observing the products from yesteryear and have more appreciation for the new technologies and put them to proper use. âI was amazed the first time I saw some of these items,â Ellis also said.
The Westwood Methodist School sits on a hill overlooking the tranquil Cumberland Bay which is a haven for yachting crowd. The school has a population of less than 100.(TY)
