St Vincent gets shake from 6.4 earthquake near Trinidad

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale occurred northwest of Trinidad last Friday night.{{more}}

According to the Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies (UWI), the quake occurred at 10:10 p.m. at a depth of 60 km.

The event was located at 10.86°N 62.12°W and was felt throughout Trinidad, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Guyana.

“This is the strongest earthquake to occur near Trinidad since the 22 April 1997 magnitude 6.1 earthquake which caused damage in Tobago,” the release from the UWI said.

No damage or injuries were reported to the Seismic Research Centre.
