The equipment is for the newly established Crisis Centre.

Camille Crichton, coordinator of Canouan Resort Development Holding Limited, handed over the supplies to Director of Gender Affairs Polly Oliver.

On handing over the supplies, Crichton noted that the company is aware of the increase in domestic violence in this country and the furniture will help in the provision of residential services to the clients at the Crisis Centre.

Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of National Mobilization Merissa Burke noted that the furniture will make the women and children housed at the Crisis Centre more comfortable and expressed gratitude to the Canouan Resort Development Holding Limited for the assistance.

The Ministry of National Mobilization, Social Development, the Family, Persons with Disabilities and Youth is responsible for the Crisis Centre, which is a new facility open to women and their children who have been exposed to domestic violence and are seeking a safe and temporary home.

The Crisis Centre was established on April 16, 2012.
