Pre-school teachers participate in safety plan workshop
A number of Pre-school teachers on mainland St Vincent are receiving training on the techniques to design, implement and evaluate safety plans for their schools.{{more}}
These skills are being imparted during a three-day workshop, taking place at the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) conference room. The workshop, which began yesterday, continues today and will end on Monday.
The School Safety Course is exposing participants to the concepts of disaster risk management. Participants are also being given information on the key activities to promote and implement a school safety plan, the benefits of emergency management preparedness in schools, simulations and drills for schools, and the role of education in risk management.
The School Safety Course is organized by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), in conjunction with the Ministry of Education with technical support by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), and with funding from the United Nations Childrenâs Fund (UNICEF).
