PM returns today after visit to Guyana
Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves is expected to return to the State today, after a two-day visit to Guyana and to the CARICOM Secretariat in that nationâs capital Georgetown.{{more}}
On Sunday evening, the Prime Minister held a working dinner meeting with President of Guyana Donald Ramotar and several key ministers, including former president Bharrat Jagdeo, on matters of mutual interest.
Gonsalves told SEARCHLIGHT Monday, that his trip was in the interest of strengthening bilateral relations with Guyana, and also to do preparatory work to take up the chairmanship of CARICOM in January 2014.
He said on Monday, he met with Guyanaâs Minister of Agriculture Dr Leslie Ramsammy, Secretary General of CARICOM Irwin LaRocque and senior members of staff at the CARICOM Secretariat.
Gonsalvesâ trip was also in preparation for the 27th meeting of the CARICOM Bureau of Ministers, scheduled for Trinidad and Tobago on September 17, 2013.
