The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) officially handed over audio visual equipment, along with a server and an Uninterrupted Power Supply Unit to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) Division of Arts and Sciences on Friday, August 2.{{more}}
The handing over of equipment comes under the SMART Project, which is funded by the Universal Service Fund (USF).
The SMART Project is an initiative of the NTRC which is in place to assist the SVGCC in carrying out existing and new programs online and in real time through the donation of equipment.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, USF administrator Kyron Duncan said he hoped that the equipment would be used in a manner so as to facilitate the Collegeâs existing and upcoming programs, both online and in real time, as well as carrying out their audio visual tasks. He noted the NTRC will do its part in continuing to expand access to telecommunication services throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Meanwhile, lecturer at the SVGCC Division of Arts and Sciences Vonnie Roudette congratulated the NTRC and all involved in facilitating the SMART Project for their genuine interest in the recognition of the importance of the Art and Design Program at the Community College. She said the donation presents not only educational benefits, but also new possibilities for entrepreneurship, creative innovation and youth collaboration.
Roudette added that this will also give critical support to the beneficiaries, including students, graduands and young artists, to be able to contribute in meaningful ways to sustainable development of St Vincent and the Grenadines. She said that they will be able to strengthen the design technology component of the Associateâs degree program, presenting skills in professional design, communications, video, film and photography.
Roudette pointed out that the potential to meet the programâs objectives has now been significantly increased through the provision of the equipment.
This handover of equipment is the second to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College under the USF SMART Project, signed with LIME.
