The initiative is being done under Scotiabank’s Bright Future Programme, which targets communities and less fortunate families.
According to Janine DeFreitas, representative of Scotiabank, the programme is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and communities.
The mentorship programme, which was initiated in June of this year, will allow the children of the Liberty Lodge Centre for Boys and the Salvation Army’s Orphanage the opportunity to participate in football, cricket, karate and technology programmes. These programmes are aimed at developing strong bonds, self-confidence, motivation and pro-social skills among the children.
The Liberty Lodge Centre for Boys, which houses 19 boys between the ages of 12 and 17, was also presented with a commercial washing machine from Scotiabank during their visit last weekend. (CA)
