Gonsalves, on Monday at a press briefing, said that he was hoping that an announcement would be made when members of ALBA meet in Ecuador for the Summit of ALBA, which was expected to take place on Tuesday.

According to the Prime Minister, he was hoping that an announcement would be made confirming Gustavo Hernandez, who Gonsalves said was expected to take over from Rafael Isea – who demitted office recently.

Gonsalves explained that he was hoping for a speedy transition in order that the US$30 million loan that had been approved recently could be disbursed.

“Because simple things could delay you for a week, two weeks,” the Prime Minister said.

Gonsalves announced during a recent sitting in Parliament that US$40 million had been made available to this country after a delegation, led by the bank’s president, visited this country. (DD)
