Her appointment came at the 13th Western Hemisphere Regional Conference 2013, which took place July 20-25 in Mexico.Member organizations meet every three years across the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts’ (WAGGGS) five regions. In the Western Hemisphere, 36 different countries come together to celebrate their achievements and discuss strategies for the future development of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. They also elect the Western Hemisphere Committee to implement their plans for the next three years.

Forde’s appointment to the Committee comes as local celebrations to mark 100 years of guiding here in St Vincent and the Grenadines move into full gear. She is the second Vincentian to serve on the Western Hemisphere committee, following in the footsteps of sitting Chief Commissioner, Rechanne Browne-Mathias who served on the Committee from 2004-2010.

Forde, a former Government senator and practising lawyer, will serve as the Committee’s Vice Chair for the next three years.
