Taiwan CCH medical team visits SVG again

A medical team from the Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH) in Taiwan is visiting St Vincent and Grenadines from July 22 through August 9, 2013.{{more}} The CCH medical team comprises four medical doctors and two nurses with the specialties of Pulmonology, Anesthesiology, Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology and Emergency Medicine. It is the fourth year that CCH has sent a medical team to St Vincent to work hand in hand with colleagues of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) and provide medical service to Vincentians.

The CCH and the MCMH were twinned in August, 2010, which has turned a new leaf for the medical cooperation between Taiwan and SVG. In addition to sending medical teams, the CCH also provides training to doctors, biomedical engineers and laboratory technicians from the MCMH. Last year the CCH medical team held a workshop on Diabetes Monitoring, Care and Prevention to share with SVG health officials, doctors and nurses CCH’s experience and achievements in the prevention and control of the disease and to explore the feasible cooperation between CCH and MCMH in the future.

The Governor General, H.E. Sir Frederick Ballantyne and Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves both welcome and attach great importance to the twinning and co-operation between the two hospitals. During Dr Gonsalves’ official visit to Taiwan in 2011, he took time to pay a visit to CCH and was deeply impressed by the advanced state of its facilities and the quality of its service, especially the CCH’s passion for promoting international health cooperation.
