Farmers urged to continue de-leafing, sanitation programe

Ground spraying for leafspot diseases has been intensified.

A release from the Ministry of Agriculture said because of “slight mechanical problems affecting the operation of the spray plane,”{{more}} the Ministry has had to intensify the ground spraying for the leafspot diseases, black and yellow sigatoka.

Farmers are therefore asked to contact the Banana Services Unit to ensure that all affected fields are sprayed.

The Ministry is also requesting that farmers contine to carry out an intensive de-leafing and field sanitation programme.

The release said that cutback of fields affected by the black sigatoka continued effective yesterday, July 22.
