Delpesche received the award on Wednesday during a graduation ceremony of his alma mater – the Lowmans Leeward Primary School.

“It feels really good. It’s good when people recognize you. It shows that your hard work and dedication, people see it. From time to time while you may feel disgruntled at some stage in your life, but people will see your hard work and reward you for it,” Delpesche told SEARCHLIGHT.

A police officer with more than 30 years experience under his belt, Delpesche holds a Law degree and has worked at several outstations, including Sandy Bay, Layou, Bequia and Chateaubelair.

He spent 10 years at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and has been a prosecutor for the past 12 years.

According to Delpesche, prosecution is something that he has always loved. He stated that when he was stationed at CID, he used to do process duties in the High Court and was closely attached to, one-time prosecutor, now judge in Dominica, Brian Cottle.

It was there Delpesche said his love for prosecution developed.

“I learnt quite a lot from him. In fact, I adopted his style and inculcated my own approach and I developed from that…,” he added.

“He told me, if you don’t have evidence against somebody, and you proceed with the matter, you’re actually persecuting the person.”

Delpesche advised persons to always do their best, even though they may not always get the reward they may wish for.

“But at the end of the day, once you give of your best, your conscience will be clear. That is my hallmark. I feel comfortable having done my best…,” Delpesche said.(KW)
