Canada’s Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diane Ablonczy will visit this country on May 17.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves said at a press conference last week that the issue of the visa requirement will be discussed, but that the discussions will not focus primarily on that.

“Canada is a very good friend of ours and we want to keep this relationship strengthened,” Gonsalves said.

Gonsalves met with and held discussions with Ablonczy during his trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly last year.

At that meeting, Gonsalves said that the focus was on getting the Canadian government to review the pronouncement that visa restrictions were to be imposed on Vincentians travelling to Canada.(DD)
