Toastmasters to battle in Territory Level contests

Area 19 SVG Toastmasters held two highly successful speech contests on Sunday March 24, at the Paradise Beach Hotel in Villa.{{more}}

Area 19, which comprises the Achievers, Imperial Champions and Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Clubs, met to select their contestants in the Territory Level International Speech and Table Topics Contests, which will be held here later this month.

Competing in the event were Toastmasters Reynold Baptiste, Keisha Johnson and Laela Myers of the Achievers Toastmasters Club, Toastmaster Shafique Sam of the Imperial Champions Toastmasters Club and Toastmasters Westford Joseph and Vincent Alexander of the Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club.

Of the four participants in the International Speech category, Toastmaster Reynold Baptiste emerged as the winner, with Toastmaster Keisha Johnson winning second place. Four participants also entered the Table Topics Contest, and Toastmaster Shafique Sam won the judges’ favour, with Toastmaster Laela Myers taking second position.

The first and second place winners of both contests will now move on to compete with the winners of the SVG Area 20 contests, in Territory Level contests, scheduled for April 27, 2013. The winners of those contests will move on to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the District 81 Toastmasters’ Conference, which will take place in Guyana, May 17th – 19th 2013.
