“Easter weekend, 2013 in Bequia is going to be spectacular,” says Chairman of Bequia Shore Activities Committee, John Sutton.
Held under the theme, “Easter Weekend of Fun,” the activities get underway on Saturday with a fete at the Clive Tannis Hard Court, featuring Trinidad and Tobago’s sensational soca band, Imij and Co.
Activities continue on Sunday with a volleyball tournament to be held at Lower Bay beach, which also features players from Barbados competing against locals. The day’s proceedings will also feature the regular music, food and other attractions.
These other attractions include a swimming competition hosted by the Bequia Swimming Association.
The long weekend activities climax on Easter Monday, which is also dubbed “Easter Fun Day”. On that day patrons will witness some of the best domino players from mainland St Vincent versus the best players out of Bequia. There will also be greasy pole competitions and maypole dancing.
All events for the day will be held under the âAlmond Treeâ in Port Elizabeth.
Apart from the activities mentioned, Sutton also disclosed that there will be “a lot more” attractions suited for both adults and children.
He further explained that the objective for this year’s Easter weekend in Bequia is to provide a more upbeat and international atmosphere to create a memorable experience for patrons on the island.
“This year we are going for more of an international setting and we are also going for more sophistication,” Sutton said.
“The venues will be decorated in such a way that it give you the feeling that you are in an international atmosphere. “There will be entertainment for all ages and I guarantee that all in attendance will not regret coming to Bequia for the Easter weekend,” Sutton further stated. (AA)
