St Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Radio Club elects new executive

A new executive has been elected to serve the St Vincent and The Grenadines Amateur Radio Club for the next year.At the Annual General Meeting of the club at the SVG Red Cross Building on March 9, Kumar Persaud J85K was elected President.{{more}}

He will be assisted by Vice-President – Robert Young J85I; Secretary – Sherry-Ann Abbott J88NSA; Treasurer – Andre McKenzie J88FP; Public Relations Officer – Clifford Davy J88AO; Technical Officer – Winston Jeffery J88AZ.

A release from the SVGARC thanked all those in attendance at the meeting.

“The club is growing from strength to strength and continues its recruitment drive in SVG. The Club will commence a robust program of training at the ‘General’ class of our amateur radio licence level shortly. International Amateur Radio Day will be observed on April 18, 2013 and our organisation will showcase the various skills and equipment of the hobby. Specific details to follow. Several other events will be announced shortly,” the release said.

According to the release, the SVGARC has nominated one of their most senior ‘hams’, Robert J85I, as the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines representative to the International Amateur Radio Union.

The IARU, through its national Amateur Radio societies worldwide, and in conjunction with those agencies responsible for regulating and allocating radio frequencies, organises for the better mutual use of spectrum and the development of Amateur Radio worldwide.
