This as PKF-KDLT Chartered Certified Accountants hosted a two-day seminar on âFinancial Statement Analysisâ.
The seminar took place on March 6 and 7 at the National Insurance Services (NIS) Training Room and focused on enlightening participants on the need for
sound analysis of financial statements, especially during the current financial climate.
âThe current financial climate has put increased pressure on businesses, financial institutions and regulators to make informed assessments and decisions, adding emphasis to the need for effectively analysing financial statements,â a press release from PKF-KDLT said.
The seminar was facilitated by partners of the firm, Kirk DaSilva and Michele Samuel. It catered to managers, internal audit staff, credit officers, investment officers and accounts personnel. Participants were exposed to a thorough examination of financial statement analysis with a view on how to go beyond figures and see the bigger picture. The seminar also addressed the key areas of corporate governance and financial statements fraud from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
The participants included managers, loans officers, and accountants from the utility companies, banks, insurance companies, credit unions, as well as private enterprises. The opening session was chaired by Julian Jack, manager of the St Vincent Teachers Co-operative Credit Union, and heard remarks from Norlan Gabriel, manager of First Citizens Investment Ltd and Errol Allen, chairman of the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and former deputy governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
PKF-KDLT has indicated that there are plans to hold further training seminars to address the needs of the business sector. In February this year, the firm, formerly KDLT, announced its membership of PKF North America through its Caribbean Consortium.
