Pornographic photos not me! – Former teen queen

Miss South Rivers 2010 claims her character was defamed this week by persons who published pornographic photos of someone who appeared to be her on a social networking site.{{more}}

Jaylana John, 17, told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that the person in the photographs was not her and that she was disturbed to find out that the photographs were being circulated, not only on Facebook, but also by way of instant messaging, such as Blackberry Messenger (BBM) and WhatsApp.

“These photographs are not a true representation of my image and I am kindly discouraging the continuation of these photographs,” John said.

The teen said she discovered a Facebook account on March 3 that was made to look like hers and that the profile picture was one with a girl that looked like her, committing a pornographic act.

“They saved my pictures and copied it onto the profile,” she explained.

The 17 year old stated that she had reported the Facebook account and it was later removed.

John, who was also crowned Miss SVG Teen in 2009, said that she believes the horrible act was committed by individuals in her village who wished to tarnish her character.

She said reactions from individuals have been mixed, with most believing that she is the person in the pictures.

“Some people say that is not me, but the majority of people believe,” she said. “Family members and those close to me know that it’s not me”.

The South Rivers resident stated that although she is hurt, she can use this experience to build on as a young individual and a guide to deal with negative encounters in the future.

“I will like to take this opportunity to ask young people, both male and female, to be aware of things that can be used against you, solely for the purpose of character assassination,” John said. “People will hate you, shake you and break you, but how strong you stand is what makes you”. (BK)
