The work, described as Vigie Highway Phase 1 – Section 2, will focus on that portion of the Vigie Highway from the Arnos Vale Roundabout northward to the junction of the Villa-Fountain road, a release from the ministry said.

The work is due to commence in March 2013 and end in November 2013.

The works include the installation of 415 metres of new pavement with associated drainage, two bus lay-bys, 240 metres of subsurface drains, 500 metres of sidewalk over the drains along the south bound lane, road markings, signage, underground utility and an eight-metre long box culvert.

The work, which will be carried out by Kelectric Company Limited, will necessitate the disruption of normal traffic flow along this section of road, over the duration of the construction period.

To sensitize the public, and in particular residents and business owners in the immediate project area of the scope of the work, the nature of the disruptions and alternative measures to mitigate the fallout, the Ministry of Transport and Works held a Town Hall meeting at the West St George Secondary School on Wednesday.
