Kingstown Seventh Day Adventist Church creates history

History was created at the Kingstown Seventh Day Adventist Church on February 16, when 6 elders and 3 deacons were ordained to serve their local churches at Fountain and Kingstown{{more}}, respectively.

It was the first ordination of elders and deacons since the Seventh-day Adventist Church in St Vincent and the Grenadines acquired mission status from the Inter American Division of Seventh-day Adventists on November 7, 2012. This division is one of the 13 divisions of the world church of Seventh-day Adventists, which has over 17 million members worldwide.

Cyril Prescott, Higman Peters, Malcolm Richards and Ellsworth Hackshaw are now ordained elders serving the Kingstown SDA Church and Richard Ross and Amanda John-David are ordained to serve the Fountain SDA Church.

Lincoln Caesar and Michael Wesley are ordained deacons serving the Kingstown SDA Church and Elford James will serve the Fountain SDA Church.

The impressive ceremony, under the theme “Dedicated to Serve” was attended by some 200 persons, including the Honourable Madam Justice Gertel Thom; President of the SVG Mission Pastor Dermoth Baptiste and other pastors and elders of the SDA Church. The special guest speaker was Elder Philmore Isaacs, former Chief Agricultural Office and former director of General Employees Co-operative Credit Union.

He challenged the ordinands to fulfill their responsibility with love, humility and dignity, while sitting patiently at the feet of Jesus, ever learning and becoming more like Him. The service was coordinated by Pastor Claudius Morgan, communication director of the SVG Mission and supervising pastor of the Kingstown and Fountain Churches.
