The IADC launched a new and improved website using the same URL, www.svgiadc.com, on February 14 at the IADC’s office at Argyle.

A release from the IADC said the new website can be considered a one stop shop for St Vincent and the Grenadines. The website was officially handed over to the IADC by Andre Bailey, Director of Information Technology Services Division (ITSD).

In addition to information about the Argyle international airport, the new website doubles as a marketing tool. On it you can source information about tourism and investing in SVG through the various links, the release said.

The site, which can also be accessed by using the URL www.argyleairport.com, is also easier to navigate. It has a more detailed and organized photo gallery and boasts a donate button which will soon be operational. Another interesting aspect to the site is the provision of links for information on airlines and shops and services, when those become available.

Speaking at the handover, Bailey noted that what is good about the website’s construction is that the resource was developed in-house, using open source technology, which means that they incurred no cost in buying any applications to develop the site. He said the site will be considered a very important national resource.

CEO of the IADC Dr Rudy Matthias, in thanking the Telecoms division, congratulated the members of staff of the division who worked on the site. He noted that this is the type of collaborative effort that persons working on any national project should adopt.

According to Matthias, there is no reason in world why we should have to import anyone to build a website for any organization in SVG. He said he is happy that we can demonstrate that we have people with the calibre here to build a website, and not just a website, but other bigger projects, such as an international airport.
