A statement issued by Richards on Wednesday extended thanks to those who supported her through the ordeal.

“I am blessed to have an opportunity to publicly extend thanks from the depths of my soul for the outpouring of love and compassion in the wake of a vicious attack on my life and home.

“My husband and I wish to publicly express thanks to God for engineering a miraculous series of events that proved, beyond a shadow of doubt, his supernatural intervention in human matters,” the statement read.

The statement continued: “To our relatives, church and friends for being at our side every step of the way. To the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force – Rapid Response Unit, and the Calliaqua Police who were extremely tactical and masterful in the execution of their duties.

“To the doctors and nurses at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for their reassurance and professional competence.

“To all who enquired and continue to decry sin and in my specific case, violence against our women, you have touched me deeply, and my prayers will continue with you.

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ…” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Richards is a teacher and a news anchor at IKTV – channel 45. Her husband is Dr Cecil Richards, pastor of the Kingstown Baptist Church. The couple have one daughter.
