A release from the Ministry of Education said the symposium was designed for students with a keen interest in the calypso art form and those who are especially interested in participating in this year’s Junior Calypso Competition.

The facilitators were Carlton “CP” Hall, Kenneth “Scakes” Alleyne and Shernell “Skarpyon” Williams. The main objectives of their presentations were: to improve the standard of calypso composition at the junior level; to enhance the quality of stage and vocal performance in the Junior Calypso competition; to sensitize students to the operations of the artistic industry; to encourage the teaching of calypso composition at the classroom level and to encourage its connection to other subject areas.

The symposium took place on January 30, at the Peace Memorial Hall.
