Her election came at the first Annual General Meeting of the Association, held on January 28, 2013. Gilbert will be supported by Advira Providence, Vice President; Sylvia Gould, Secretary; Ann DeRoche, Treasurer; Anita Williams, Public Relations Officer; and Catherine Nash, Committee Member.
The elections were supervised by presiding officer Zeitha Hadaway, who was assisted by Kitty P. Israel and Joycelyn Carr.
The first meeting of the Association was held on January 30, 2012, with the constitution being adopted on July 30, 2012.
The Associationâs motto, âCaring and Sharing: Making a Differenceâ is supported by two main goals: (1) to assist in promoting the well being of retired nurses, and (2) to provide health care assistance to persons within the community.
In her remarks to the AGM, the president said: âAs nurses we may be retired, but surely we are not tired, but are equipped with varying clinical expertise, leadership abilities and a vast accumulation of knowledge. When added to our maturity, the possibilities for SVGRNA are endless.â
The Association has extended an invitation to all retired nurses to join them at their monthly meetings, which are held every last Monday from 3 p.m. in the Obama Lounge at the Lady J Restaurant.
