The persons who packed the National Trust building in Kingstown on January 21 expressed their appreciation for his piece of art entitled âThe Wind That Blowsâ, with resounding applause as the film ended.
The film captures Bequia whalers, led by Athneil Ollivierre, in action as they hunt whales, prepared for the hunt, and the thrill of the kill, in 1989.
Some filming was also done between 2009 amd 2012.
The Wind That Blows looked at the lives of the men (including Eustace and Stanley Kydd, William Wallace, Stephen Compton, Ephraim Bynoe, Kingsley Stowe and others) and also touched on the debate between maintaining a tradition in a changing environment.
Residents of the Grenadine island especially congratulated Weston for capturing the spirit of the people and for whaling in his film, which he said would be shown at a number of film festivals.
Weston further said he hopes the film would be appreciated for what it is: a film that captures and documents a very unique tradition and heritage of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
