It was a spectacular affair in December when Courts opened its first new concept flagship store in Constant Spring, Jamaica.{{more}}

Amid a celebratory atmosphere, witnessed by specially invited guests as well as an anticipative public, Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and other government ministers joined members of the Unicomer team — Dennis Harris, managing director for Courts Jamaica, Mario Siman, CEO and chairman Unicomer Group, and Mario Guerrero, managing director, Unicomer Caribbean, to cut the ribbon to open the new state-of-the-art Courts store. Blue curtains, which draped the entire store, were drawn to reveal an impressive two-storey glass structure, supported by blue and yellow pillars.

Innovation and customer convenience come together in the design of the new store. Impressive features include solar powered lighting, an interactive electric avenue with the latest tablets, computers, Mp3 players and other digital products and multiple payment centres throughout the store.

In addition to offering a wider range of the very latest in appliances, digital products and furniture from the world’s best brands, Courts Constant Spring also houses Courts Optical, the new chain in the Unicomer Caribbean group. Courts Optical carries a wide range of designer frames at affordable prices and a full suite of optical services.

The new Courts store is dedicated to the late Hayden Singh who served the company as managing director from 2000 until 2011 when he passed. The Unicomer Group also donated US$250,000 to the Mustard Seed Communities, a charity organisation Singh held very dear to his heart. Courts managing director Dennis Harris handed over a symbolic cheque to the Very Reverend Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon, founder of the organization.

At the launch, the massive crowd that gathered was treated to a star studded show featuring I-Otane, Freddie McGregor, Cherine Anderson, Goddy Goddy, DJ Nicholas, Vegas, Nomaddz, and others.

This new store launch has underlined the continued commitment of the Unicomer Group of companies to the region. This significant new retailing concept, first of its kind in Jamaica, heralds in other new concept store projects planned for the region in the upcoming months. All will present world class designs and the latest in visual presentation standards, spacious and efficient layouts and unique, memorable shopping experiences for all customers. The Unicomer Group of companies has earmarked more sizeable funds to refurbish several other stores, which will provide employment opportunities not only in Jamaica, but also in the other ten (10) markets of Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, Antigua, St Kitts and Belize.
