Public servants pursuing undergraduate degrees to get $1,000 grant

Public servants pursuing undergraduate degrees will be provided with assistance in the form of a $1,000 grant this year.{{more}}

As he made his Budget address on Monday, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr Ralph Gonsalves said, in an effort to strengthen the Public Service, assistance will be provided to all public servants who are pursuing associate and undergraduate degrees.

“This further assistance will take the form of a $1,000 grant, in the form of an advance to be repaid if the beneficiary is unsucessful in his or her studies, towards the purchase of a laptop computer.”

The programme is estimated to cost $250,000 per annum.

For the fiscal year 2013, the government has budgeted to spend EC$150.7 million or 19 per cent of the total Budget on Education.
