Hadaway elated to be accorded MBE title

Deputy Commissioner of Police Reynold Adolphus Hadaway says he was “dumbfounded and elated” to learn that he has been accorded the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).{{more}}

Hadaway, who is currently overseas continuing his law studies, said he did not envision himself ever receiving an award and more significantly a MBE.

“I am extremely humbled and grateful to the government and people of this nation for bestowing upon me such an honourable recognition. I would like to firstly give praise to Almighty God for making this possible, as I know without him this would not have been accomplished.”

He gave special praises to his family for being a source of inspiration and encouragement throughout his life, as he persevered in face of the many challenges that have arisen.

Quoting American civil rights activist Cesar Chavez, Hadaway said “We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”

Hadaway said he aspires to make the quotation from Chavez his mantra as he continues to give of his time to ensure that law and order is offered to the general populace of the Vincentian society.

“The satisfaction derived from serving our people has continued to mold me into the individual I am today. Law and order is a fundamental pillar of any democratic society; without it, a society will degenerate and as such it is my desire to continue my role in the preservation of this important part of the justice system and service to my nation,” he stated.

Hadaway, who was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police about one year ago, was honoured for services to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, and to law and order.

Married, with two children, he is one of six outstanding Vincentians named on the 2013 Queen’s New Year’s honours list.
