This is a follow-up to the donation made by the New York based organisation in July 2012.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Airport Development Company Ltd (IADC) Dr Rudy Matthias said the completion of the project was dependent on faith, but also on the support received by the many persons at home and abroad.

He singled out the support from Vincentians in the diaspora.

“And today we are again at the Governor General’s home to acknowledge their contribution,” he, Matthias, said at the event at Government House.

“This is the second sum, but the money is not the only thing that matters to us. But what this signals to us and the rest of the country is that they support what we are doing and they want to make whatever contribution they can to ensure that it becomes a reality,” he continued.

Maureen King, treasurer of the group, said the group continues to engage in several fund-raising activities to continue to finance the work at the airport site.

She further explained how the group got started, saying that the chair and founder, Godfred Pitt, made a decision to organize some funds towards the project after visiting and becoming inspired by the site at Argyle.

King said the group was formed and the activities to raise funds include personal pledges, barbecues and concerts, among others. (DD)
