The Ministry of Agriculture will this month send to the United Kingdom a trial shipment of golden apples, butter nut squash, pumpkin, ginger, plantain, eddoes, sweet potato.{{more}}

The shipment comes as the ministry, in collaboration with WINFRESH, is expanding the range of agricultural produce traded on the British market — along with bananas.

This comes after over six weeks of extensive discussions between WINFRESH and the Ministry of Agriculture on the exportation of agricultural produce that may be sold on the UK market.

As a result, the ministry has held discussions and engaged a number of farmers who are in the position to export the produce on a trial basis.

Minister Saboto Caesar said his ministry has a number of initiatives that are targeted for the coming year, including the development of the export trade in raw agricultural produce outside and within the region, the ministry said in a release.
