A release from the Ministry of Education said that to be eligible, students at the CSEC level must have obtained no fewer than five passes, including English Language and Mathematics.

The CXC CSEC 2012 Analysis released by the Ministry of Education earlier this year indicates that 299 students passed five or more subjects, including English and Math.

Payments are also being made to the eligible students who sat the GCE ‘A’ levels or CAPE this year.

229 ‘A’ level students who passed two GCE ‘A’ levels or CAPE passes plus Communication Studies, Caribbean Studies or GCE General Paper, will each receive $500.

The payout will cost the government $264,000, a ministry of finance official told SEARCHLIGHT.

Beneficiaries should take along with them a valid form of identification when collecting payments.

In the event that a beneficiary is unable to collect payment, they may authorize someone to do so, on their behalf, the release from the Ministry said.

Authorized persons must bring along with them a signed letter from the beneficiary authorizing collection, a valid form of identification of the beneficiary and a valid form of identification of the person collecting the money.

Payments will be made at the Ministry of Education between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30 in the morning and 1:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon, and will continue until December 19.
