A release from the SVGTCCU says the continued growth and commitment to provide quality services to its members and customers on the island were some of the factors that prompted the establishment of the new branch.

“The opening of the branch was a fulfillment of a promise made by the SVGTCCU to the people of the Southern Grenadines. Previously, the SVGTCCU conducted business through Kenneth Williams, the appointed agent, the release said.

In his remarks, president of the SVGTCCU Dwight Lewis expressed appreciation for members’ tolerance while they awaited the opening of the branch.

Julian Jack, SVGTCCU’s General Manager gave a synopsis of the history of the Credit Union. He noted that the new branch will better facilitate customers’ access to all the services the credit union offers, providing a “one stop shop” for members of the Southern Grenadines. These services include the Death Benefit Fund, loans for construction, renovation or purchase of property, Back-to-School and Medical Loans, Debt Consolidation and the soon to be implemented ATM service and Debit Card.

“This ‘one stop shop’ saves on transportation costs to the mainland and allows for saving in the SVGTCCU’s Fixed Deposit and Christmas and School Saving Plan,” the release said.

Members Jemma Adams Alexander, Fitzgerald Hutchinson and Lenus Wilson also spoke at the opening. Each expressed their appreciation for the new office, the opportunity to make use of all the services, and to enjoy the level of commitment to quality service demonstrated by SVGTCCU. They also expressed joy at no longer having to travel to and from the mainland in order to utilize the services offered by the Teachers Credit Union.

The office was blessed by Pastor Leroy Thomas and the cutting of the ribbon was done by Vernice Williams.

“The Teachers Credit Union opens its doors to all persons in Union Island and other Vincentians to become members. Teachers Credit Union is a ‘place where everyone is welcome’ and where ‘every member has special value’,” the release said.
