IKTV goes off air

Viewers of local cable television IKTV on channel 45 may no longer be able to catch their favourite programmes, as the station went off the air Wednesday.{{more}}

Persons flicking to the channel, based at Prospect, were greeted by a Karib Cable notice, superimposed over a black screen which reads: “Due to reasons beyond the control of Karib Cable, IKTV is off the air. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

IKTV, which came on air in 2010, delivered a number of locally produced shows, as well as music videos, news, and movies.

Some of the more popular shows included “Swing”, “Unrendered”, “Plain Talk” and “We Cookin’.”

A usually reliable source told SEARCHLIGHT that the station is off the air because of “an issue yet to be resolved between Karib Cable and IKTV.”

Attempts to contact managing director of IKTV Dwight ‘Bing’ Joseph, as well as Karib Cable officials, at press time, were futile.
