Turn off computers, lights, stereos, televisions and other appliances when not in use.{{more}}

During the night, turn off all electrical appliances that are not in use.

Unplug cell phone chargers as these devices use energy even when the phone is not charging.

Where possible, use natural lighting to brighten rooms and avoid turning on a light. Open windows to provide natural ventilation instead of using a fan.

Appliances with remote controls consume electricity when they are only switched off using the remote, so switch off at the outlet as well.

Use compact fluorescent light lamps (CFLs) instead of incandescent bulbs. CFLs are at least three times more efficient than incandescent bulbs.
