“SVGBC has received a bomb scare. As a result Tonights News will be running late,” SVGTV, the corporation’s television station, said on Facebook page around 6:45 p.m.

“SVG Broadcasting Corporation has received a bomb threat. Therefore SVGTV NEWS will be late tonight and HITZ and Ezee Radio will be automated,” Rochelle Baptiste, acting news editor at SVGBC, said on the social networking website just before 7 p.m.

She later said on Facebook that the news was expected to be broadcast at 8 p.m. — one hour later than usual.

At 7:40 p.m. yesterday, SVGTV was broadcasting a music video, and had the announcement “We apologise for the late start of the Evening News this is due to technical difficulties”.

Searchlight was unsuccessful in its attempt to reach the corporation’s management for a comment. (kentonchance@searchlight.vc)
