Earlier this week, Commissioner of Police Keith Miller issued the Fire Department with 10 firefighter insulated bunker suits, purchased by the RSVGPF at a cost of US$17,450, a release from the RSVGPF said.

The suits comprise gloves, boots, pants and coats.

The new suits come on the heels of an additional seven firefighter insulated bunker suits and helmets that were purchased by the RSVGPF in June 2012, along with two suits and oxygen tanks that were donated by St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd. (VINLEC).

A bunker suit is specially designed to protect a firefighter from high temperatures, especially near fires of extreme temperatures.
