New executive to serve South East Development Inc for next two years

The South East Development Inc has elected its third executive to serve the organisation for the next two years.{{more}}

At its biennial general meeting, held on November 5, Rosita Snagg was elected President. She will be supported by Yoland London, Vice President; Charon Scipio, General Secretary; Donna Lewis, Assistant General Secretary; Claral Harry, Treasurer; Cetroy Wilkes, Assistant Treasurer and Peter Pompey, Public Relations Officer.

The Immediate Past President is Albert Harry, with Bernard Sayers and Donna Jackson serving as committee members.

The standing committee members are: Kent Cain – Sports; Marsha John – Culture; Rickey Bernette – Education; Checzley Scipio – Chaplain.

The SEDI was established in January 2008 and was registered April 2, 2008. The organisation has a membership of over one hundred youths and young adults. The SEDI is a non-profit, umbrella body of community based, youth, faith-based, cultural organisations, located in Stubbs along the south east coast of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The group has as its motto: “Promoting Development Through Sports, Education and Culture.”

The organisation aims to adopt a participatory development strategy as a means of building the institutional capacity of the groups within the surrounding villages of Stubbs.

The organisation has successfully completed its inter-village competition and is in the process of planning for the national Nine Mornings festival. South East won the best Nine Mornings Programme in 2011.
