As part of this yearâs Adopt-a-Cause initiative, the bank has donated two computers to Deliverance Baptist Church and the Mitcorp Literacy Programme. Both groups are involved in a joint initiative, which sees them working with young children in the Mesopotamia and Greiggs areas, to develop and enhance their literacy skills.
The Literacy Programme being spearheaded by the two entities is geared at providing facilities that will improve literacy levels in the areas by providing a place for them to do homework, research and access the Internet.
Deliverance Baptist Church and Mitcorp approached CIBC FirstCaribbean for assistance in obtaining the computers to help them to achieve their objectives. The bank was immediately moved to make its contribution to this worthwhile cause.
CIBC FirstCaribbean Country Manager Elroy John noted that: âCIBC FirstCaribbean is naturally drawn to causes such as these, as part of its commitment to the development of local communities and youths in particular.â
CIBC FirstCaribbeanâs Adopt-A-Cause represents one of the primary ways in which the bank provides assistance to the community, through a financial gift and/or a display of volunteerism by staff.
