Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves told Parliament on Thursday Kuralal Rampersad, chair of the board of Lake Asphalt of Trinidad and Tobago (1978) Ltd, contacted him last week expressing that view.
Gonsalves said Rampersad asked him to first seek the approval from Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
A letter was subsequently sent to Persad-Bissessar requesting, either the asphalt as a grant or at concessionary rates, Gonsalves said.
âI think this is an important breakthrough between two CARICOM countries,â Gonsalves told lawmakers. (DD)
